New album out now!

Sarah’s “Spring” News!

The Banff Report:

In January/February, I spent two weeks at the magical Banff Centre for the Arts participating in their excellent Winter Music Residency program. I was there to compose new music and came back with more materials and ideas than I ever could have imagined. Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting new music coming to your ears soon!

I was also thrilled and honoured to receive a Canada Council for the Arts “Explore and Create” grant that supported my musical adventures in Banff. Both the Banff Centre for the Arts and the Canada Council for the Arts aided in funding both my residency and my travel to and from Ontario. I am incredibly grateful to both organizations for their support of the creation of new Canadian music!

Upcoming Shows:

On Saturday, May 12th from 7:00 – 10:00 pm, I’ll be performing a duo gig at the Moose and Pepper Bistro in Niagara Falls with the fabulous Mark Ucci on guitar. No cover, free parking, and excellent fare! Reservations recommended: (289) 296-8858.

On Sunday, June 3rd from 6:00 – 9:00 pm, join me at the Mahtay Cafe and Lounge in downtown St. Catharines, where I’ll be performing the music of Chick Corea. Presented by the Niagara Jazz Festival’s Twilight Jazz Series, this concert features a fantastic line up: Nancy Walker on piano, Rob McBride on bass, and Peter Shea on drums. For tickets, please visit the Twilight Jazz Series website.

Into The Studio:

Last weekend was pretty exciting! I took my quartet into the recording studio to lay down some original music, including some of the new music I recently wrote in Banff. The band was incredible: Harley Card on guitar, Rob McBride on bass, and Jeff Luciani on drums, with special guest Ashley St. Pierre on vocals. We recorded at Joe Lapinski’s beautiful studio, WOW! Recording Studio and Creative Music Space, in St. Catharines. Joe was a dream to work with and I highly recommend his studio and skills! I’ll keep you posted on when and how this new music will be released.
